Thanked: 0Week #2 with a SRS - today was a good day
This mornings shave was the first one where things started to come together. I know a sample of 1 is not a trend, but it was very motivating.
Used SRD 100% pure essential oil lime shaving soap for the first time. I made the lather a bit thinner than I had been doing with the TOBS lime cream. I have found that I had been making the cream lather to thick to the point where it would slow down the blade movement as it accumulated on the blade. So this time I figured I would try the soap and make it comparatively thinner. (I will work on the cream lather consistency as well).
Did lots of reading of old threads in the beginners forum and made an effort to concentrate on pressure and blade angle as I know those are elements of the shave that require lots of practice to find your sweet spot.
This morning's shave was the best so far - very clean and smooth glide of the blade. For now I am going to work on my lather and learn the best consistency for me.
Many thanks to everyone here for your knowledge and your willingness to share.
All the best,
CF

Awesome! I'm new to and have a lot to learn. I have one shave under my belt so far and look foreword to the next one. Good luck and keep us posted, I'll do the same.

Thanked: 16Good on you! I am about 3 weeks in myself and I am finding every day easier and easier. I used to dread shaving and would only shave once a week, and maybe twice if something was happening that my lady wanted me shaven for, but otherwise I would get razor burn if I shaved more than once every 3 days or so.
Now I find myself shaving every day if I can, and never going more than 2 days in between, and I can't wait for the next one every time! No razor burn, I feel much more connected to my manliness (laugh if you must), and I simply enjoy the ritual of it all!
Anyways, carry on and never give up!

I'm not sure the lather thickness had anything to do with it. eExtra moisture can help.
It sounds to me like your technique is simply improving.
Slow and steady and watch the angle.

Getting the lather right, a nice angle and just wiping the lather off not shaving like a cartridge. Those are the basics. It all flows from there.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

This is a huge breakthrough, my friend. Like the first ray of sun after a terrible storm. There maybe setbacks but it gets better everyday. I learn something with each shave. Learn something every day, even if it is from a negative experience.
Great job!

Sounds like it's smooth sailing from here on in.
Keep your concentration high and your angles low!
Despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.
