Sure can, any particular parts? What makes you say 1700's?

Yeah, the one on the right is from maybe 1790s or so. No distinct transition from edge to tang, straight scales, with no curve. Primitive IOW. The other seems to be in nice shape. Considerably later than the oldie but could be honed up to shave well I think. Matter of fact, so could the earlier one. I have a couple from that period that I shave with, and I know some other guys on SRP who also shave with the early ones. As far as IDing them ..... you'll have to wait for the historical experts to be along. If anyone can, they'll letcha know.

Yes, our historian Manah and some of the others would probably know all about these razors.

HEY NEIL!!! What Jimmy said. The straight scales are an almost dead giveaway. If you could get a close up of the face side tang just forward of the pivot pin where there is most likely a stamping of some sort. A picture of the face side of the later razor with the etching would help in IDing that razor as well.

Well that's certainly a great piece of news. I love old stuff even more so when I only paid $15 for both. haha Thanks!

You made a good score from all appearances. Frankly, I'm jealous and I want to see if you ARE near me so that I can find out where you got them and possibly talk you out of them

NNOOOOOOOOOooooooooo. You only want to put them in a display case when you aren't shaving with them. Those are both worthy of a light clean up and hone so that you can start using them on a regular basis.

I will have to make it like a gun rack then. Put them on display, but still easy to grab and use. :P

I'm liking that old stub tail!! I'm a fan of those, and yet, I don't have one.

I've got to get on the ball and find one. Anyway, Nice Scores.... Congrats!!

    Best Regards,

    Howard
