My crooked beard growth pattern (downwards helicoidal left-to-right on my neck and caothic at the chin) favors my dominant hand, but I shave my face with both hands. A killer-honed blade heel is a must for me when I shave the left side of neck with the right hand.
My beard is not the only thing crooked on me. I have a shooting glass blinded at left to go rifle shooting because I am cross-eyed. I think my brain became a bit undecided on which way to go during embryonic development.

Thanked: 7No expert, but just did first SR shave. Used my left for about 1/4 of my face. Still playing with the angles and everything, but it was surprisingly more comfortable than I thought it might be, you know . . . running a piece of surgically sharpened steel blade across your throat with your "shaky" hand . . .

Thanked: 22I tried only dominant hand and Ambidextrous Shaving in the beginning and i felt more confortable with Ambidextrous Shaving even if the technic on my left hand was worst. Now i do Ambidextrous Shaving little better and improving every shave.

Thanked: 580Another leftie here. But like others have said, we live in a right handed world. Being a builder, some tools are damn near impossible to use with your left hand. That probably helped when it came to learning to shave with both hands. Having said that, I have seen plenty of videos of guys using one hand, so, whatever works for you.

Right dominant hand, but piano and flying probably developed me more. Played hockey and shot leftie (kid that taught me was left handed). My dominant hand is easier, but with just a little practice my other hand can do it too. Lynn's video said use both hands. So I did both hands from the beginning. Good thing too, because I have sideways hair on my neck. To get a BBS shave on my neck I basically have to use both hands when shaving sideways and skin stretching correctly for the side.
Patting my head and rubbing my stomach is no problem, the straight edge came along with both hands fairly easily. Often I can get the dominant hand doing something dexterous first and more easily. Then as weird as this sounds the dominant hand teaches the non dominant hand. I just do the same thing with the other hand. YMMV but it works for me.
Best,
EdI routinely badger myself and the shaves are improving!

I'm about 30% with my non-dominant hand. I started with the straight that way and I'm glad I did.

Another left hand semi ambidextrous here. Up until about 2 months ago it was about 50/50, but I watched chimensch 30th anniversary shave (look it up on YouTube) again, and noticed 2 things I didn't the previous times I saw that clip: a. A hold for a cross body pass that clicked, allowing me easier wtg pass on the right side with my left hand (usually wtg was same side hand and atg cross hand), and b. After 30 years the guy doesn't think about which hand does what. He just shaved, switching hands whenever it was more comfortable for him. So now I do what's comfortable for me, which lately translates to about 65/35 left hand. Might change again later on, but hey, as long as I'm shaved and comfortable, it's fine.
