Now you know for sure. Some like a heavier grind at the beginning stages. As Ed said a shave stick is a stick of shave soap. You have a very good one cheaply available in the UK by Palmolive. This is how they are used

I would spray one of the felt strops with .50 micron spray for times when the original edge begins to wane, and not spray anything on the other felt strop which I'd use every day.
