When I started? It was 45 minutes and then sometimes a touch up with the DE..+ shower time before + post shave blade care after....

After three years? 15-18 minutes seems to be the range from start to putting up the razor.
2 Pass or 2 and a touch up at the throat.
And I have a Mo, so the often time consuming upper lip is not in the mix.
Longer if I have the time and less, with a DFS one pass, if pressed.

Allow plenty of time when you start out, it is a new skill.

Usually takes me 30 minutes to lather up, 3-4 passes to BBS, rinse, alum block, and cleanup. If my whiskers weren't so coarse I could probably do it in 15-20 minutes.

Generally at night during the hours of crap t.v. Hot shower, three hot towels post shower, preshave oil or poraso preshave cream
Soap of the day, three razor pass. Nice and easy, calming time, little music. Post shave warm towel then cold towel, About 45 minutes of me time. Never a waste of time kind of a meditation.

I am just in my third week and so I still take my time and am a little slow, anywhere from 1/2 to a full hour. Sure I will get faster with experiance but it is time that I enjoy. Far more relaxing and rewarding experience than any other type of shaving.

    12 minutes for a 3-pass DE shave.

25 minutes (add 3 mins if I haven't stropped the razor a day before) for a 3-pass straight shave with XTG touch-up on the jawline.

Sounds like a number of you shave in the evening. That's the only time I'll be able to spend learning to shave with a straight. We'll see, maybe I'll just keep that up.

Oh, I did time my shave with my DE today. It took me almost 10 minutes. I'm sure that'll be a lot longer for a while. although I'll probably just do a stroke to two on the side of my face at first. Thanks for all the feedback!

Too long, but working on it. I normally str8 shave 2 to 3 times per week. It takes about an hour to an hour and a half to shower, face shave, and head shave. Normally it's a 2 pass shave. But my problem is a hint of shaving OCD. I'm slowly working on cutting my time down and just enjoying every stroke but it's difficult when I'm on my second pass and want to touch up every little rough patch, and when you do a face and head shave that could be a lot of area to cover. Lol. but I still have fun.

I shower then shave. Time needed depends on objective. A quick SAS to CCS from my DE can be done in about 20 minutes. One pass with touch-up on the neck and jaw line.

With the straight razor, I want BBS or close to it. I have a routine where I lather my whole face but shave and relather section by section shaving WTH, XTG, and finally ATG. I feel for stubble and touch up where needed. This takes about 45-60 minutes from shower to stropping. The SR gets me a closer, more comfortable, and longer lasting shave than my DE.

If I try for BBS with a DE using the same methods, it takes 30-45 minutes from shower to DE razor clean up.

This is sport shaving where the goal is to get the best shave that I can achieve each day.

If time is short or I am tired, the 20 minute SAS to CCS with a DE will do. My SR taught me to never rush a SR shave or lose focus with a SR in my hand. I do not mind rushing with a DE. There is a good reason for calling it a safety razor.

About 15 minutes for me total. Lather, strop, shave 3 passes and a touch up, strop= 15 minutes give or take a minute.

What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Just completed shave #160 and had read this thread just before so I decided to time myself.
    Hot shower 10 Min.
Razor was just honed tonight so I had already stropped it.
So lather up and a three pass leisurely cold water shave 20 min.
Clean up gear and den 5 min.
Al totaled up just over half an hour.
