Thanked: 1How long?
How long does it take you guys to go through you shaving routine? I now do 3 passes with a DE razor in the morning and I guess it takes about 5-10 minutes...I'll have to time it tomorrow. i'm sure it will be longer with a straight razor (still awaiting delivery) and probably much longer at first. I'm thinking of shaving in the evening to start, but wonder about the morning even after I get more experience, confidence and skill. With the shave and stropping, should I expect it to take a lot longer than a multi-pass DE shave?
Thanks,
Phaedris

I prefer the evening myself, I find it more relaxing after a days work. So from hot shower, a thin coat of lather ( pre- shave ) keeps things soft while I work more soap in the brush. Then lather up and shave. Then clean and dry everything. At the most 15 min

Thanked: 52I prefer to shave when I have the most time, sometimes AM sometimes PM. A leisurely 3 to 4 pass shave with all the trimmings after a hot shower about half an hour.

I take my time on the weekends.
Weekdays in the morning before work, it takes twenty min for three passes with a straight. It's no frills, face lather, and git'er done. It's a dog eat dog world and I have on milk bone underwear.

After work. Lunch box away. Str8 to the shower for face warming and scrub. Pre-shave oil soak while showering.
Dry-n-dress and onto the shave. Warm towl, lather, 3 passes, wipe, post shave balm, warm towl set, then a cold towl to close. Aftershave if applicable.
30-45 min.
Then clean, strop and oil. Another 15-20 min.
So, an hour.

Most days 20 to 25 minutes to make lather, do 3 passes, and clean everything up.
When I started it took 45 minutes to an hour.

With shower: approximately 1hr, but my hair is a wee longer than usual now.
Without shower: 15-25 mins, depending on time of day, day of the week. Weekends is closer to the 25-minute mark.

When I stared DE shaving it would take me about 20 minutes after I got out of the shower. I took my time and avoided cuts. It was/is relaxing for me as opposed to something to rush through. After almost a year of DE, I can get it done in less than 10 minutes. But, again, it is relaxing for me.
I recently started with a SR about 2 months ago. I am still up around 30+ minutes from first pre shave strop to final post shave strop and final dry wipe down. I am sure that as skill develops, speed will also develop.
My opinion, it will take you as long as you need to get a good shave. I have no facts to support this opinion. We all have different faces, we all have different skill levels, we all have different hair thicknesses. I cant imagine that there will be a set time for everyone.
I shave at night. The ritual is relaxing, the scents are relaxing and I can go to bed with the scent still on my face (helping to keep me relaxed). Your results and experience will truly be your own.
From reading posts here for the past (almost) year, I don't know of anyone who started wet shaving because it was faster than using disposable plastic trash. I could have missed that post....

Add stropping time to your DE time and that is what I would expect.
