Stay away from this piece of junk. Google, Amazon etc for something decent. It is safe to say your first strop will suffer while you learn.

I've seen some of the cheap Ebay "strops", they are really BAD. Whipped dog has a nice for the price bargain strop. Next to the razor the strop is the most important piece of gear, so buy as much quality as you can afford.

Will do, thanks for the links. I'll read them ASAP, I want to learn and not butcher my face while learning, I just didn't know if those were something to learn on or just to avoid those all together.

randydance062449 and I have helped a whole bunch of new users in MN and they usually bring their gear, I've seen all the Ebay Chinese/Pakistani bargain gear and not any of it is real shaving gear, it's just razor and strop shaped objects.

I recently honed a new TI that had been stropped on one of those, and the bevel and blade were badly scratched. I suspect they are some kind of leather composite.

Glen at Gem Star Customs has a nice paddle strop for $30. SRD has some nice 2 in strops with replaceable leather and fabric webbing for $45.

A replaceable stropping surface is a good idea for new stroppers, nicking the strop is not uncommon.

The quality of your shaving edge is determined by the quality of the stropping substrate and the skill of the stropper. It is the final polish, before the razor touches your face.

I called the Art of Shaving and they had 1 strop left and they were wanting $95 but they didn't tell me the brand. But for $45 from SRD, I'll pull the trigger on one of those this Friday.

If you are looking for strops on the SRD webisite look at the toolbar on the left. The strops are under the Strop Shop.
