Colleen AKA member churley is the soap mistress and Mama Bear does the same, but I don't think either really troll the boards so you might need to invite them to this thread personally via PM.

    Nice to have you, ladies.

I have always been interested in straights. I began shaving my father, probably because he was the only one who trusted me, when I was really young. I was fascinated with it. He passed away without being able to teach me the art of straights first. I have recently met a veteran to straight razors who is happy to teach me how to shave someone properly... without turning them into a victim of the demon barber of Fleet St. I find it to be a beautiful ritual that is becoming a lost art and it is something I would like to be able to pass on, as well as reward some of the men in my life with a nice shave!
This was the original post. I'm curious to know what straights our lady friends are using and in what capacity. What tools of the trade do you most often employ? I'm not exactly sure when this thread got so convoluted, but it began as a simple quest to have a thread where the other women on SRP could come and discuss their experiences in the straight razor world. Thank you so much for visiting!

You guys are a riot...! Holy Balls indeed.... lol

Well, I have to say I don't shave with a straight... but they scare me less than the DEs do. I don't shave the man in my life either, although there are times I really wish one of us would shave him... he is a once a week shaver whether he needs it or not...

But, I am definately a woman, so here I am.. .laughing my tail off...

We need more women like Viola around I think! You Go Girl!!!

    Bear Hugs!

Edit.. alright, I am going to admit it... I did the laser thing. I don't shave much anymore.....

    Evenin y'all

Sorry, couldn't help but tease this morning ......it was waaaaaay to early when I was up creeping about and I'm liable to say anything at 4 in the morning....lol.

I'll jump right in and say that I don't use my straight razors to shave with, instead I like to spend my time admiring them. I have a nice display case for them, and I gaze lovingly upon them, and tenderly rearrange them every now and then.

But most of the time I keep them covered up because every time I look at them, I realize how many more I should have........and I have these incredible urges to go to ebay ....... I even find the adds on the left of the page to be distracting when they show a nice blade ....for you see I suffer from SRAD.

Currently in the case ( excuse my girly descriptions )

Black carved Solinger Magnetstahl -- bird w/ crossed arrows on the tang. The letters S&M etched onto the blade with a sheild, hammer and anvil

Double Duck Goldedge pearl 5/8 ( OMG and it is BEE-U-T-ful )

George Wostenholm & Son "original & true" Sheffield England - pipe on the tang

    W.H. Morley & Sons. Germany

    F.W. Engels Special. Germany

and then I have a few others too ......but I shave with a Ladies Gillette DE....... I have two of them ( puffs up proud )

I fear for my life when mine drives. I once had her do some hair trimming on me with clippers and the result was disastrous! All I wanted was the back of my neck straight and instead it looked like a seismograph readout!

    Sorry to threadjack. Carry on...

We're not all that scary. I've been cutting my father's hair for the last ten years or so, with electric clippers when they work and scissors when they don't, and he's always come out looking dandy.
