Thanked: 0Dancer new to straight razors.
Heya im brand new here never having used a straight razor before and just ordered my first one today. My main question i had for you guys was something having to do with my career, im a 20 year old male dancer and well shaving is a pain mostly because as a dancer i need to shave my chest and stomach on a daily basis and my face every other day if not every day. i used disposables forever and having to shave so often i would go through a pack of razors every week or so, those darn packs of disposables are not cheap. Now my hope is using a straight razor i can cut on cost some while maybe actually enjoying shaving. I guess my real question to you guys is if a straight razor is just as functional for your chest and stomach as it is your face?
Thanks a ton guys.

welcome to srp
I've never shaved my chest or stomach with a straight, but I don't see why wouldn't it work well.
Don't throw your disposables yet, there's a learning curve and if you need perfectly smooth you may have to touch it up after the straight till your technique gets good.
Your torso should be easier than your face too - flatter to start with and the hair is presumably less dense and not so coarse as on your face.

Buddy, we've got people who shave a lot more than that!
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

Thanked: 3795I'm not sure that you will get a lot of expert advice in this area. You didn't mention it, but, do you have to shave your legs as well?
I would assume that the advantage of shaving your chest and abs is that you will not have to use a mirror. Even if you have been using a razor in the mirror for years, switching to the straight makes it seem more complicated because you really need to see what you are doing. When shaving the chest and abs, you will not have to use a mirror. That should make it a little easier. Actually, I suspect that the straight shave of the chest and abs will be much easier than the face. Just be careful and use a very light touch!

Well, I am going to regret this.... but I got bored one day (isn't that how it always starts) and shaved my chest.
It was a hell of a lot easier than shaving my face, that's for sure.

I would have thought that shaving one's torso would be rather difficult, but I'm on the thin side and I have lots of...ridges to worry about. I suppose if you can stretch skin onto a flat section, it should be a walk in the park. But, if the skin is rather sensitive (as it tends to be), be sure to go easy at first.

Thanked: 1587I have problems shaving my pecs and abs because of my incredibly ripped physique and dense musculature. Getting in between the six-pack grooves on my abs is particularly difficult.
Just go carefully and I'm sure it will be fine. As others have alluded to, people shave their hoo haa area with straights, so I cannot see why your chest and stomach would present any special concern.

Just be very careful with a light touch. I'm sure being all slashed up can't be good for a dancer. I shave my upper chest with no problems. I do that sometimes so you can't see hair peking out under the collar.

You should do fine shaving your chest and abs. I have never done so but it would seem easier since there are fewer sharp curves to maneuver around.
