I do exactly the same, except the other way round - my water comes from a kettle I've previously boiled. (Saves on water I use).

When i had a shave in India the barber(15 yrs old) wiped the blade on the back of his hand.I use the side of my finger on the side of the blade.

usually on forearm or heel of palm. then wash off after.
