Don't feel bad, almost everyone does it at some point. I nicked mine on the first shave. Like spendur said, the upside is that you'll probably never do it again!

Sorry to hear that...A real bummer.

As the other posts has suggested, send it back to Lynn at SRD and get an assessment. He may be able to use his hone to remove the nick in your blade. If not, he'll let you know.

In the future consider using a hand towel on the sink to remove the lather from your blade instead of rinsing it under the tap. That's what I saw Lynn do in his dvd.

Only rinse the blade after you have finished shaving.

If you wipe the blade on a towel instead of rinsing it, the odds of an encounter with the faucet go way down. Just my 2 pence.

Good idea with the washcloth/towel. I've spoken with Don and I'll be sending the razor back to them soon. I also ordered their DVD, which I probably should have done in the first place. Hopefully in a couple weeks I'll be ready to give this thing another shot.

At least you haven't managed to cut the back of your left-hand fingers... don't ask how that happens!

It happens- don't lose heart and chalk it up to a valuable experience. The best lessons tend to be hard-learned!

I like to rinse my razor (I also like the warm blade)-- and the faucet is always there... taunting me....

The other story you'll hear a lot is how people cut their hands as they move the razor from one hand to the other.

Both of these can be avoided it you follow a simple rule: when holding the razor, always *look* at it, either directly or through the mirror... no matter how comfortable you get with it...

The other one you'll hear is how people will drop their razor and instincitvely try to grab it before it hits the sink or floor... so keep a towel on the side of the sink and use it to keep your hands and the tang of the razor dry and free from shaving cream!

I dropped a survival knife once as I was hacking some bushes many years ago. I caught it point first and have a nice little scar where it stuck in my hand..

I always wipe my razor on a flannel/facecloth and have a towel on the toilet lid (loo is next to the sink) for when I want to put my razor down. I always dry my hands/razor before swapping over.

    Default me too.

I have also done the "sink clunk" - it sucks! I learned right away that I should have my eye on the razor the whole time rather than on my face (especially while rinsing - really, why would I be looking up while rinsing below? Perhaps admiring my ugly mug...). Eye on the ball. Good luck!
