    My Bad:

Moss Scuttles are only 50 bucks, that's not the one's I saw. The Scuttles I saw were closer to 200.00, I'm not sure what I was looking at....?

I have a small Potpourri crock pot that I fill half way with water. They were used for simmering Potpourri. You can buy very small crock pots online or at Wal Mart, etc...Most are adjustable, I put my mug or scuttle in the crock pot. It keeps the lather hot throughout the shave, and my sink is free. When I'm done, the little crock pot goes under the counter in the bathroom. This may not work if you have a very small bathroom. I also understand some guys have used Candle warmers, and cup heaters...Stuff like that....Gotta have Hot lather.....!

"Hot" is relative. Very warm is probably ideal. If it is "hot" the water will evaporate and the lather will dry out on your face. I run hot water in my lather bowl and brush while I do my stropping. The heated lather bowl keeps my lather warm while I shave.

I lather on my face, and when I'm ready for the second pass, I drizzle a little bit of hot water into the base of the brush and that reheats the lather pretty nice for me...

I use a Dirty Bird scuttle and love it. I fill it with water from a hot shot and top it off with tap, put the brush and some more tap water in the top bowl, and let the whole setup set during my shower. By the time my shower's done the inner chamber has cooled to the perfect temp (too hot and you can't build any lather) and the brush has warmed up.

I use Julie's 1.5x size. I couldn't speak highly enough about the work she does and the service she brings. I've also seen people do head-to-head tests of heat retention and the DB scuttles stay warm longer than the competition.

If the price tag seems steep there's a potter on eBay who sells scuttles more in the $20-$30 range I've heard good things about if you want something to make your lather warm but aren't so interested in shelling out for higher end performance. It could be a good best of both worlds options.

(and PS hi to everyone, first post on this forum, established DE shaver getting increasingly interested in straights here)
