    Default First nicks.. gotee related.

So today I got ****y. 4th shave with a str8, all two pass, hadn't nicked myself yet. Figured I'd go for a bbs. Paid for it when I got to the gotee.

My whiskers grow dead sideways from left to right under my chin, I have a gotee that im very attached to and theres not enough room to go atg(right to left) beneath it. Any one have creative ideas to get that illusive bbs neck under there? Everything else is great. I'm loving my str8 and look forward to shaving for the first time in my life.

I have a goatee, and do clean-up under it with a double-edge razor or (gasp!) a cartridge.

    Very little blood, that way.

I have a goatee and I can get right up in there to clean up with the Cuththroat. It just takes a little practice, but you get used to it over time. Keep up the good work.

I have a large chinbeard/goatee and place the straight on the edge I want to cut the hairs(blade placement is really important, take your time) on a very steep angle(almost flat). For the about 10 shaves I had I never *cough* touched up my goatee nor have I nicked myself in that area.

Neck BBS is something that I had to come to terms with. I had two options. I could do an ATG pass and wind up with little shaving zits, and some ingrowns OR, I could do a second WTG pass and call it a day. I thought my skin would eventually calm down and relax its sensitivity a bit, but no. So now, 2 WTG passes on the neck gets me close enough, and very comfortable (which is my main goal).

Regardless, it takes practice to find the correct angles and motions. Keep at it, and you'll figure out what works best for you. Try to remember what you have attempted, and keep exploring.

    Good luck!

Just experiment a bit with your technique and skin stretching. Short buffing strokes work wonders on the hard spots.

LarryAndro had a straight cut down to 1 3/4 inches for me that I used to use for my goatee. I now simply use whatever straight I shave with that day.

My hair growth is somewhat similar to yours, exept mine grows to both sides. I shave east-west and west-east on the sides, and north-south, south-north under. Sortta Works for me.

So, if I'm understanding you correct you're doing two XTG passes? Seems to make sense. I was thinking of trying that with a the hint of against the grain angle I can get. We'll see.. I'm going to try again tonight. I was a bit freaked out last night cause I got myself with the middle of the blade. I always thought it would come from the spike point but I was just being stupid really. I actually caught myself moving the blade all wrong going after those whiskers and thought, "I shouldn't do that" only to pull away and see some blood a few seconds later, never felt it at all. Thanks for the all tips and encouragement. I'll let you know how it goes..
