Thanked: 2Something that comes from working with guns, if you do get rust or corrosion in there try a pipe cleaner drenched in cun oil, NOT solvent which could harm your scales. Let the oil do its work then clean it out the next day with a series of dry pipe cleaners. This will also leave a faint coat in there to protect.

Thanked: 68Our ensuite isn't the most wonderfully ventilated room - there is an old dehumidifier that runs in there during the day. Keeps the damp away, helps to keep the mirrir clear while showering (and great for drying washing in the winter!).
I rinse the lather from my blade by briefly running cold water during a shave. I'm a polar bear shaver.
After I wipe the blade on a towel.
Finally it sits (closed) on the air vent from the dehumidifier getting a thorough blow drying for a hour - or even all day.
Seems to work fine for me and makes sure there is no moisture left.
Have read somewhere that there is a member who uses a hairdrier to dry the blade too.Don't do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the paramedics!

I'm sort of paranoid about rust so I try to have as little water contact my straight as possible. I wipe on a towel that I keep draped over my shoulder. When I'm all done I give it a good wipe on the blade and between the scales with super absorbent microfiber cloth. After a stropping I wipe it with soft lens cleaning cloth that has been dipped in camellia oil. Then I store it in a small wooden box where I also keep a packet of "rechargeable" silica gel...Did I mention I'm paranoid about rust..I'M PARANOID ABOUT RUST!!!!!

I used WD40 and dental floss and I've cleaned around the pin, then stuck some 3-in-One in there. I think I'm going to keep my razor out of the bathroom when I have my shower. There is just too much condensation.

Thanked: 2I started rinsing under the faucet, but after nicking my blade and getting a little rust at the pivot, I switched to wiping on a wet washcloth. This method works better for me.

During the shave I wipe the razor on some TP and then rinse it at the end before wiping it down all over, stropping and leaving it out for a few hours so I'm not putting it away damp or anything.

Great method, but have a question.
I tried this method for the first time this morning and found it to be very effective at removing the lather from my blade. As you can see, this is my first post and I am quite a new to the hobby so forgive this newbie question:
How do I now get the blood cleaned from my razor? Multiple passes between my legs don't seem to be effective.
Thanks!

Thanked: 1I have always rinsed my blade under hot water and wiped it down afterward (and running TP between the scales). This morning for the first time i used a towel and wiped it off. I liked the towel because with the blade cool (as opposed to hot) I was able to better gauge the pressure i was applying. I then wiped the blade clean afterward and still used TP between the scales.
I also use a blow dryer on the razor afterward. I blow dry both sides of the blade and both sides of the scales (and run the thing through the scales quickly multiple times as it burns my hand if I go slow). I also dry the pivot by moving the blade from fully open to half open and then closed. All in all it takes about a minute and a half. I then let it sit on a towel open for about 15-30 minutes and then store it away. So far the blade still sparkles like the first day I got it with no pitting. My only concern is the heat may warp the blade but I haven't seen any negative effects.
