Thread: Exclusive Straight Shave?

I shave exclusively with my straights. I still hve my gillette sensor with a few cartridges in the drawer for some reason but I gave away the goo and the last couple mach 3 blades (which i stopped using years ago because of irritation).

So to answer your question again another guy who shaves exclusively with straight razors.

For shaving my face, exclusively a straight. Don't think I've used a disposable in years and years. For other areas, I use an electric if I'm in a hurry, but will still use a straight if I have time.

SRs all the way!! Ive never tried a DE but Im kinda curious. Just might have to get one for a try

It was over three years ago now. My wife had just given birth to our son and in my hospital bag I had packed the last two Trak II cartridges that had been cowering in the corner of my old toiletries kit for years, just in case. As it turned out we were in hospital for a few extra days than anticipated what with thirty-two hours of labour, an emergency C-section (she's still my hero) and a subsequent jaundice treatment. Nothing too serious, but certainly time consuming. I was looking after both of them pretty much 24/7 at that point and didn't want my newborn son to have to discover whisker stubble from his papa as one of his first experiences. I wanted the snuggles you know? So, I broke out the cartridge and did what needed to be done. I remember thinking that it wasn't all that bad at all. No pulling and a decent shave. Was I misremembering how things were? Two days later I had to break out the cartridge again. Different story. Pulled and not a very close shave at all. No way to tune the edge(s) to improve the situation either. There's still one more cartridge left somewhere, but it really is there for some unimagined difficulty. Perhaps some day my curiosity towards DE's will get the better of me, but until then it's straight shaves all the way for me.

I have a son due any day now (due date's April 17, but his older brother came 12 days early). Sadly my older two kiddos had to learn daddy's neck is not so comfortable, as I was still shuffling through all the cartridge options and creams and oils and, and, and... those were dark days. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do when this little guy decides to enter the world, but I'm certain it will be my Fatboy or my Straight. I'll NEVER go back to the cartridge again.
