    Default shaves per week

do most beginners shave daily or is that too much for the sensitivity of the skin? i really want the practice but i do not want to overdo it. i used to shave 2 times weekly using a mach blade but that wasn't as fun as the straight. I am guessing in the long term I would continue the only twice weekly shaves but my mind is in this mode now to try it out every day just thinking perhaps it is better to start slow.

Let your skin be your guide. If you have issues slack off. If you don't you can shave as often as you wish.

I shave just as much as I did before once or twice a week. My beard does grow out much faster but i have no time. And yes shaving with a straight is much more fun and much more relaxing I need to start shaving more

I shaved a bit more when I began just for the fun and practice - probably just about every day. If I happened to slice my face open I'd let it heal for a day or so

Well when i started i had a rash and bad razor burn, i have fragile skin, but over time it got tougher and i got the WTG, XTG, and ATG passes down. so now i only shave once a week. The only thing i regret about shaving with a straight razor is i wish i had more hair on my face.

When I started, I could only manage two to three straight shaves a week. My skin was super sensitive, and my technique was undoubtedly poor. After about 6 months I noticed that my skin was adapting.

Now it hurts if I DON'T use a straight!

    Have fun!

I've always had to shave every day, straight, DE, or cartridge.

I got into it, like you. My skin adapted fairly well, I shaved 4-6 days a week.

If you have bumps or irritation let it go, bro. Just let it go... let it grow...

    Smile Everyday!

I am 68 years old and except for the time I had a beard in graduate school, I have shaved every day for 55 years. However, after discovering straight razors in December of 2010, it is no longer a chore. Now I shave everyday with a straight razor because I love the process and I love a clean shaven face.
