Tony that's a hell of a deal. I'm getting a friend of mine (Matt Beck) headed down the str8 path with a razor I sent to him and I've sent him your way to purchase a strop. I was just telling him today he should buy a second to practice with before getting one of your good strops and this comes at a really perfect time for him

You're a real standup guy, Tony.

Gary, when I served my time in the army here I remember we had some troops from the US visiting for a winter drill. From what I can recall they had a lot of problems staying on the slippery roads. Then again, I managed to sverve off the road once or twice myself that winter as well...

Anyways, I am very impressed with how friendly this group is. FUD just offered to clean up, sharpen and send me a razor he didn't need, just for the cost of shipping. I guess that sets the standard for how I should behave around here.

I saw the product in use once. The guy clamped the tail and chopped it quickly and then put this stuff on it. After about 2 minutes he released the clamp and the tail was fine. I don't know if they make anything like that for use on humans or not. (This display was the reason I changed my mind about raising sheep for wool ).

That product that you were talking about I believe is the same stuff that is in the pencil, but it is called Kwikstop... I have used it for my girlfriends dog's nail when we cut it too close by accident in the winter.

It is Styptic Powder so you can place and rub the powder into the animals foot to stop the bleeding.

They use alum powder to make the pencils.

The stuff used on farm animals and dogs tails is a sulphur based product. I don't think it had any alum in it.
