Nice collection so far, you will soon start to save money (in ten years or so, maybe. )

I thought of taking a group shot of my stuff a while ago, but the thought of seeing how much there actually was room for in my cabinet kinda scared me, now I got three cabinets and are terrifyed.
Yeah, It's better not to look at all your stuff at once. That way you won't have to tell your wife a lie when she asks "how much crap do you have/need/want/paid for?"

Funny but oh so true. But still funny, especially as I studied the first photo for a number of seconds before I scrolled down.

Yeah, you're right, I'm a consumerist, capitalist pig...

Read 'To Build a Fire' by Jack London, that story will make anyone feel warm where ever they are. You can get it as a free audio book here. I reckon it'd be just your thing...

Bet it's a bit more romantic than dead grass and dying gum trees though...

The Adelaide hills where I live is nice in Winter, but messy looking in summer. Not like England, which looks nice and neat always. I mean, even if you look at photos of London during the blitz, it still looks neat; it's like they've swept all the rubble nice and neatly off the road. Australians would just say, "Who gives a F&*k, leave it like that, main thing is the beer helicopter can still get through..."

I like the Nordic lands. They seem to take great care in painting everything red, blue, green and yellow and making sure a red house isn't next to ANOTHER red house. They even have nice looking bike racks...

Of course American cities, we're told, are now wastelands. Apparently you can buy like Las Vegas for 5 bucks. I think that's because they spend all their money on advertising campaigns for the presidency and the porn industry. It's good to see they like God, though...

Asia will of course build silly structures to show off their wealth and then promptly fall into decline; a little like ancient Rome. I think the Arabian countries are already there; I mean, what's the deal with that fake palm island thing? Is that just a LITTLE ostentatious?

OK, need some ideas on other continents/countries/cultures to insult, who's got a suggestion?

I believe if I insert one of these [] I can get away with anything. These days at work I end my emails with three of them in a row. That way when I'm hauled into the GM's office for disciplinary action in regards to my spiteful, critical, sarcastic emails I can just use the poor comedian skills clause...

A word of advise, if you are married, make sure that all of your razors have black scales and look alike. She'll never know when a new one comes in. :-)

I hate to be a party pooper/voice of reason and I know you guys are just having some fun, but for the few out there that want to maybe get into straight razor shaving, I don't want to scare them away thinking this is ultra expensive.

First of all, comparing disposable and straight razor shaving is like comparing a beatup pickup truck and a Ferarri. One is meant purely to do work and does a bad job of it and the other is meant to have fun, is more than capable of doing the job and looks good doing it. Where this is a bad comparison is in the price difference, its as if a Ferarri was for free. Point is even if straight razor shaving were more expensive (and its not), you can't compare them dollars to dollars, because it would be like comparing a beatup truck and a Ferarri.

Everyone mentions and throws in lotions, soaps, brushes, pre&post creams, scuttles...... as a cost of straight razor shaving, but its not. Not only can you use all of these along side a disposable shaver, but you don't have to use them as a straight razor shaver. I've used a brush and soap to shave for years before I first used a straight and now that I shave with a straight, I've shave with a Dove bar and using my my hands to form lather and application.

All you need is one (reasonably prices, good, brand new) straight razor, strop, honing stone, and lapping plate and if you shave five times a week, after a year and half your shaving for free. If you shave three times a week, call it three years before your shaving for free........forward and back.

One straight razor, strop, honing stone, and lapping plate is all you need. After that your not a shaver your hobbiest. Some people are collectors, some people like to experiment with different products, some people like to decorate their bathrooms. So in the context of straight razor shaving if you buy more than just a straight, strop, hone, and plate your no longer paying the price to shave.

Sarcasm will get you no where on this site. If you read some of the threads on here, it can take up to a year or more, before you begin to see results in saving money by switching to a striaght razor. Sure, it's going to take money to first get started and find your nich in the straight razor shaving world. It's taken me almost 8 months, and a few hundred dollars, but I finally found mine. I have my razors (two Dovo's and one Boker), a strop from straight razor designs and a Norton 4/8 wetstone. I've found the shave cream, shave soap and post shave cream that works for me now, expreimenting is over now. So, now that everything is worked out, I won't be spending between $30.00 and $60.00 dollars for a few safety razors, the straight's will outlast me. Besides, now I turned a chore into an art. I really look forward to shaving now and enjoy the straight. It takes time, but you will begin to see a turnaround in what you spend on safety razors.

I'm not being sarcastic. Whatever straight, strop, hone and plate you get will work. You don't have to experiment with them. Get a new good brand and trust me it'll work.

You could use shaving cream out of a can and a straight. Like I said I've used a dove bar in my hands to build lather and it works. Heck, ones I finished shaving in a rush, brushed my teeth, dryed my skin, saw I missed a few hairs and shaved them off dry. You buy the expensive stuff and they will make your shaves better, but you don't need them.

If you choose to buy expensive soaps, brushes, creams, lotions..... they'll make your shave better, but they'll just as well make your disposable shaving expereince better. You see its not a straight razor shaving cost. The cost to straight razor shave is one of each, straight, strop, hone, and plate. You make that money back within a few years compared to constantly buying disposables and then your shaving for free. Everything else you would have spent regardless.
