    Welcome!

I will second the referral to www.thewellshavedgentleman.com

I just ordered a razor and 4 sided paddle strop from Mr. Tony Miller of that site. It's on its way as I type but I can tell you that from my PM's with Tony, you'll get good, solid advice and he'll send you in the right direction. Not to mention, that he is just a class act as a professional. His razor is pre-honed so its shave ready right out of the box. He can give good advice on the maintenance (stropping, honing) of the razor too.

And if you want shave soap or shaving cream soap, I can't recommend more highly Churley (a member here). You can see her post in the Vendor's thread marked "Colleen's soap" or email her at: thegentlemensquarter@verizon.net Her stuff is simply awesome.

At any rate, the people here are great. Their collective knowledge and experience is priceless. Enjoy the new addiction!

Welcome aboard Rafael. A bonus to liking the appearance of round points is that they are a bit safer to start with. They're also less pricey in general so you're ahead of the curve. Read the help files, browse the forums and you always have people to answer any questions you might have.

I just wanted to thank you guys for your assistance. As of today I am waiting for a couple of shave ready razors, one from Joe and another from XChris and a strop. I also bought a cheap one of Ebay to practice honing. I will post after first shave experience. Again, thanks.

Just remember, take it slow and easy. Focus. Oh, and donate blood in advance and have a recent pic for the plastic surgeon. Nothing to worry about!

Just remember to sterilize the ebay razor before taking it to the same hone you'll be using on your shaving pieces. There are a few threads on this topic, just do a quick search and if you're unclear, ask a few questions.

Thanks for the reminder. I always boil my Ebay DE's so I was going to ask how to clean the straights. I already read the links and as luck would have it I have a bottle of Barbicide tha is going to come in handy. Thanks again.

Before you use the barbicide, make sure you clean the crud off the blade and the scales... I use Lysol 4in1 with no adverse effects. Use a piece of floss to get around the pivot pin.
