Thanked: 46Welcome to SRP!!! You are off to a good start with one of the best shavers out there. I learned with a Boker over 40 years ago, still have it, and still love the shave it gives. Have her honed by one of our pros and enjoy the ride! When you decide that straight shaving is for you, look for a second used razor and a barber hone. Have the second razor pro honed and use the barber hone to keep it touched up and compare your efforts to the Boker. With the Boker, you have a proper shaving razor to compare your efforts at honing to. It will take time and patience, but the reward of straight shaving is worth it. There is just too much to learn quickly and you have to go through the learning curve. You will never know everything about straight shaving, as I and all other long term straight shavers will tell you that you learn something new all the time. It is a great journey and we all welcome newcomers so that our art will not be forgotten. Read all you can and watch the videos. All the very best, and HAPPY SHAVING, John

Thanked: 0Wow! It's awesome that you learned on a Boker too and still have it. 40 years ago at that! I love the idea that I can take care of this blade and have it last for years and years to come. Some of my fondest memories as a kid were watching my dad or my granddad shaving. Hopefully, my kid will have the same interest in me shaving with my straight that I had watching my dad and granddad shaving with their double edge blades. And hopefully, I can pass a nice blade down to my kid when he is old enough. Thanks for all the advice!
