Thanked: 485That's cool! Your dad sounded almost as scared as you! I think you did very well, it was obvious how thrilling it was for you. Some pointers:
- Maybe try and get a more oomphy lather. I think your using C O Bigalow, that lathers really well, maybe use more water.
- Get a face cloth, fold it, and place it on the counter bench to wipe the razor on. Good on you for not rinsing it; I don't, but many do.
- Excellent work with the short strokes, but there were a few areas you went over too often. You'll get some razor burn from that!
- EVERYONE felt as awkward using their 'bad hand' as your little brother calls it as you seemed to. And you're right, your hand gets in the way of the vision. You DO need to do parts of your face blind as you say (as least I do). I'd keep using the method you used if I were you, it looked good to me.
- Make sure you dry the razor, and maybe give it a light oil, Eucalyptus is what I use.
- Don't shave for a few days.
Your little brother's comments "he's gonna cut himself" were classic!
Classic video, I reckon that'll go viral!

Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Thanked: 334Parker:
After watching, the first thing I noticed is that you placed the edge of the blade against our skin first. This leads to cuts. I always place the spine against my face first, then rotate the edge of the blade into position before beginning my pass.

Hey Parker,
Awesome man!!! You did great for the first time. I remember my first and I was so nervous that beads of sweat were getting in my eyes and making trails through the lather. LOL I agree with Carl, cudo's for not rinsing the razor, keep that pivot pin area dry!! I wipe mine on a fold towel during the shave and I usually wipe the blade, toe down, clean with a wet wash cloth at the end and dry it with a micro fiber towel and make sure there are no spots left on it, not even light soap residue spots. That will draw moisture and stain the blade with oxidation. I also lay the towel on my open palm and make a few light slow strop like passes to be sure the edge is dry and then give about 10 passes on web and then leather. Congratulations on your first, and especially for having the courage to video and post it!!!
Regards,
Howard

I also have a question about storage. Should I store it in the bathroom? I didn't think so because of all of the humidity from showers and such. But, I do live in Vegas so other that showers humidity usually isnt a problem. Or, just make a case in my own room? Any thoughts?

Thanked: 334DO NOT STORE IT IN THE BATHROOM! Water will inevitably find it. Also, keep it away from Zach.
After I dry it and strop it, I leave mine open with a golf tee between the shank and the scales to let it finish drying/air out the scales for a few hours on my dresser before placing it back in its box. I think making a case for it is a great idea. Perhaps your father could help you with that.
