Welcome Norm! It's the path less traveled by a wide margin. (no pun intended). I had a similar hiatus of about 25 years while my Spartacus 6/8 languished in a secure drawer (not shaving sharp). I read an article on SR shaving in a magazine about 4 years ago and decided to try again. The difference this time was the internet and the old Yahoo straightrazorplace. That got me through the steep learning curve and now I know how to do all the skills necessary. I thank Lynn for his contribution to all of us.

Welcome aboard Norm. I would remind your wife that its far better to be spending money on things that give reoccurring pleasure over the years and can then be resold at a profit later on instead of wasting it on chasing women and alcohol.

    Monte,

You are right, it seems we both went trough the same pattern. When I got the razor I went back in the store were it was coming from in order to find out information and they had absolutely no idea of what a straight razor was and how to maintain it, it was not shave ready and guess what, the same store still exist, lately I gave them a visit to test them. They still have a straight razor in stock, this one was a Dove but just like in the good old time they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. But now we have the internet to perpetuate the art of straight shaving

    Have fun

    Normand

I love how "educated" those people in general grooming/cutlery shops are when it comes to straight razors (Did you know that strops are used for sharpening and stones are used to bang the razor into shape? ) and how nice they are to let any bum off the street fondle the blade you'll be shaving with, with their greasy grimey fingers.

Yeah i think that was the hardest thing for me to get past the other half, i also said about the price and the fact is that 4x MAch 3 fusion heads in the uk are about £8 now and i used to get through one a week or more, and well now i save the £8 a month. Great job on the persestance i hope it does not take me that long
