I wouldn't worry about using second hand soaps, brushes, razors, etc. All are easily cleaned or not very dangerous to begin with.
Most of the real nasty stuff out there is transmitted from Mom->Baby, through sexual contact or sharing needles... Unless you are 'really' using your shaving gear outside of the box, I think you're pretty safe.
I couldn't find the link but I read a story not long ago about measurement of germs on toilet seats and the number was 600 per... They did the same test on the toilet handle and the number was 2600 per!
I grew up long enough ago that on road trips you stopped at a gas station that had 'one' common bar of soap in the bathroom and it was covered in various substances and it had a rotating linen towel that seemed perpetually stuck at the end of the roll and it was black as well. I don't remember being sick very often and am still plenty healthy.
Lots of more scary things out there to be worried about as germy... Mailbox handles, front doors to most building including medical offices (how many times do you see someone cleaning 'outside' door handles?), office phones in general due to the amount of use they get from multiple users... And, mail itself! Think about how many hands have touched any random piece of mail that you get at home and what a nice porous surface that envelope is... If it were really that dangerous then Mail Carriers would have their own Reality Show:
"Deadliest Delivery!"

Thanked: 443Yeah, it's a dirty world out there. I've also read a comparison between your computer keyboard and a public toilet seat. If you ever have to choose which one to eat from, go for the toilet seat.
I worked a few years an a university admissions office, where sets of papers passed from desk to desk to desk and if one person had a sniffle, the whole place went down in a few days. That was a strong reason for their move to paperless apps. Now everybody just keeps it personal with their own keyboard."These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."
