    Default Second Hand Soaps

I have seen several ads for second hand soaps in the classifieds, and have a question. Is it adviseable to purchase soap second hand? Being new and all I tend to shave with bloody lather, which of course transfers to my brush and I am sure to my soap. So, isn't there risk involved in buying soap that has been advertized as having been used? I mean only idiots think that soap is self cleaning.

Would you drink from a dirty glass in a cafe? Soap is cheap, so why mess around with used soap? Very Best, John

There are certain things I wouldn't use second hand. Soaps and brushes are on my list. You never know what is growing on and in either one or what either was used for. Maybe it's just me but that's how I feel about it.

That's exactly how I feel about it! Why then would some one list it for sale saying "I only used it three times..."? You still got your blood all over it!

I don't know guys, I always thought of soap as self-cleaning but then again never bought a second hand soap as, to me, there is not such a big profit margin to be made buying second hand.

I guess can afford to fork out a couple extra bucks for a brand new soap that I really want.

I think the reason they would list the soap that way is to indicate to the potential buyer the quantity of soap left as it is difficult to estimate percentages as with in creams or liquids.

Because just like how they wash off the dirty glasses at the cafe, and then no one has a problem drinking out of them. You can thoroughly wash off the bar of soap, even scrape off a decent sized layer of the material, and then you are left with a fresh, untouched layer to start out with.

Based on some of the things I've seen sold on Eboy people will buy anything and people will sell things even if it sell for less than a dollar.

I agree. Bigspendur's choice in this matter is just being prudent. There are some things you do not do: shoot the Easter bunny, whiz in the wind and knowingly use a soap or brush that has blood serum somewhere in a little crevice. MHO.

Go to the drugstore and buy some cheap soap, last I checked you could buy a puck for about 2 bucks. It's not worth the risk.

That would depend upon what was in the glass, don't you think? If it were a swig of Chateau Haut Brion '66, I might be all over it. If it was a shot or two of 1961 Chateau D'Quem, then certainly. If it was Bud Lite, I'd pass. But if it was World Wide Stout, get outta my way.
