Perhaps it's just the picture you sent me and the light is playing a trick that made me think your razor had a frown.

BTW I've heard nothing but great things about the razor Scott is sending you. Most American razors are nice hard steel and take wonderful keen and lasting edges! I've had a few Clauss razors pass through my hand as well as some Torrey's and they've never let me down!

Indeed that razor was honed by Lynn.I'm very disappointed in the way the situation was handled.. the ad described the razor accurately.. I was nice enough to rescale the razor for free.. when we all start out we all have problems that can b blamed on many things.. I don't wanna look like someone looking to make a quick buck off of a razor.. I'm here to act as a family member and offer my help in what I know..

I apologize most profusely if I gave the impression that you were to blame in any way.
    You've been great.

My frustrations are a result of being told different things by different members.

At the end of the day, I made the choice to buy this particular razor and any difficulties that I'm having are of no reflection of airportcopper. I have never stated that he had tried to rip me off in anyway, he has done just the opposite.
He is correct in saying that he re-scaled the razor before sending it to me.

Again, my frustrations are more a result from having conflicting advice from different people.
At times I feel quite overwhelmed and don't know who to listen to!

I did send Lynn a message, but that was to get his opinion on the razor itself. Even if the razor was garbage, which it isn't, that still would not be a reflection of you airportcopper...unless you're actually Gustav Iserloh and VERY VERY old! (that's a joke, the razor was made in the early 1920's lol)

Just because you are putting a hold on your straight experience, don't let it keep you from educating yourself here on SRP. If you have any questions, just ask...you know how to reach me.

Also ask Lynn his opinion on a 5/8 Electric Cutlery razor with a round tip for a first razor. You will see that you will have some good steel in your hands.
I'll be sure to keep an eye out for it! My mailman has a tendency to pretend to knock so he can leave and go home early. I ended up having to chase him around town for the razor last time...lol

I suggest you abandon that as a technique & learn to hold & flip the razor traditionally. No reason you can't have stropping down after a couple of hours of correct practice.
Shaving skills may take a little longer.

Sound advice. Shooter was kind enough to send me a SRD strop until mine comes in so I'm just putting the straight on hold until his loaner and the strop comes in.

We just don't treat folks that way here my friend. We help them through their problems. These mods do a pretty good job at shutting down stuff that is "not cool". If you ever see a post like that again, just hit the little triangle with the "!" in it...someone on call will see it and act accordingly to the rules & better benifit of the forum. Remember, grasshoppers don't last long in a chicken coop!

Add: It's not a whole strop that's on it's way, just the replacement leather that I had nicked...just to get you by until you get yourself a strop. It's for you to keep...just wanted to clarify that it doesn't have the handle & you may have to attach it to a piece of wood to make a paddle strop. Just wanting to get you going in the right direction.

You can practice the dexterity for the flip with a tooth brush if you want. Same principle applies but as you have a razor may as well use that. Once you have the 180º rotation down go to the newspaper & apply it for real. By the time the strop arrives you will be less likely to damage it.

I've been practicing a lot and I think I've got the motion of the flip down

How should I attach the leather to a piece of wood Scott?
