I suspect this is the issue. The spray on finish is strong but brittle. As a precaution, I added some superglue to mine, in the transition between the wood and the metal that holds the brush. Just a few drops and swirl it around, and I can rest assured I know it is sealed.

Of course, you could just entirely evade the problem..

I really like the look of the "Owners Club" brushes, I'd thought about getting one. But, geez, I really didn't want to have to join a club. I mean, with the yearly dues, meetings to have to make time to attend, and all the political back stabbing that often happens; too much hassle. Then, the next thing you know, I get elected to be a representative at some club convention somewhere and I get drunk and arrested for inciting a riot again. Nope, no more clubs for me.

In videos the employees of Semogue put a lot of glue
Maybe it's not a quality one.
Yes super glue can "delay" for some time the demarcation but can not last boiled water temperatures for long
When the time some a good epoxy will fix the problem permanently.
As for the finish in wood, a thin coat of Shellac is a very good solution.

So I picked up a 1305 since they are so cheap. It arrived yesterday. Wow. This is gonna be a different experience than what I'm used to. This thing is stiff, like a broom. I haven't used it yet but it seems to be full of backbone. A lot more than I expected.

They break in over time and get softer. Soaking time is a lot less than a badger but takes longer to dry.I am now a die hard boar fan thanks to Semogue. Just be patient and enjoy the ride.

I don't know if I'll ever trade boar for badger but I figured I should see what they are all about. Especially when the investment is so reasonable. And I've really never heard anyone say anything bad about them. So I must be missing out. Soon I'll give it a go and see what all the excitement was about.

Well it's more of a personal preference rather than one being better than the other. The price is certainly reasonable. I just have come to enjoy the feel and comfort of the boar better is all. I find it just as nice as a badger as far as comfort goes. Yes they are stiffer but, IMO not as broom like as some seem to perceive. They break in as stated over time and get softer with use. When they dry, they get rigid again however. Again to reiterate, just more of a personal preference. Enjoy.

I was a skeptic as well but I am now a believer thanks to my 1305 Semogue. I was able to break mine after about 10 shaves with it. They even fan out to a degree like a badger hair brush would.

Ok, so I can report that I'm not a fan of boar or this brush. First, the brush is a little too small (no fault of the brush itself). And I think its not dense enough. If the bristles would have been any other material, this would be a floppy brush. I didn't care for the feel of it either. Preference, yes. But I obviously don't prefer it. It took all of the luxury out my shave routine today. Maybe it'll break in to be something more enjoyable but I don't think it'll see enough activity to get there. And like I've seen others report, the lather seemed to gather near the knot. I did not like this brush at all. On to something else.
