Thanked: 118Just picked up a 1305 from West Coast Shaving. I'm trying to break it in now. Two days with the Semogue, then one with a Badger. So far my Badgers are still in the lead, but I'm giving the Semogue at least a month for break in.

Thanked: 3I'm a big fan of Semogue brushes too. I have an 'owners club silvertip' that I use most days, and it's just great. Despite a lot of use, it has never shed a hair, which is more than can be said for me!

Thanked: 3225Don't know what the SOC boars are like but I sure like their SOC 2 band badger a lot. Another value for the money brush.

Thanked: 3215Yup, boar is definitely underrated.
Love the Semoque have a few, they are well made and a great value.
The occasional vinegar soak and hair shampoo in a hand lather makes them like new.

Boar brushes are just another wonderful product provided to us by the most amazing animal on Earth!! Remember, a pig is the only animal that can convert vegetables into bacon! I just had some Lingucia and eggs, while watching guys on TV tossing around the ole pigskin. I have a 1305 and I love it, great brush.

Thanked: 1160I never got around to tellin you guys. A fella at work gave me a Semogue he bought complaining he couldn't make good lather with it and it didn't caress his face like his new uber expensive silvertip badger brush. Well ..I won't deny that a good badger is very nice but.....I'm a boar convert and love both of my Semogues now. Score ! P.S......I'm kept tellin him all he need do was to soak his brush..he won't do it ,not even with his badger ???? His loss my gain .

Hey steph, a friend has a semogue 1305, he is having a bit of trouble with it, he said the lather used to gather round the knot, and after I persuaded him to try it again he said that he got an ok lather for one pass, but he had to start all over building his lather for the second pass.
Any ideas?Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Thanked: 1160Hmmmmm......going by how you describe it,the only thing I can think is that maybe it's the way he's swirling the brush around in the bowl and on his face. Maybe if he lightened up the pressure??? Sometimes I have to build up lather a second time...but that could be due to the water hardness or the soap itself. Hope that helps a little ??
