BTW, what website/supplier were you looking at? Sounds interesting.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

I would figure that have been taken into consideration when tying this brush? Maybe inserting firmer hairs towards the center of the brush and lowering the knot????

Mind you I'm not suggesting it's a bad brush just not one with much backbone as I think of backbone.
These brushes being priced so reasonable they probably don't qualify for this attention but with a bit of tweeking could attract a larger contingent of straight shavers don't you think?

If you pay $8.00 for a brush, you get what you pay for.if the brush opens up in the middle and becomes a floppy mop. you got what you paid for.If the brush smells bad, you got what you paid for,if the brush falls apart in two mos., you got what you paid for. suggest you buy ten at a time.may get you thru a year.

So what does it mean if that happens with a $100+ brush? Did you still get what you paid for?

Not necessarily. I was speaking rhetorically of course because I have experienced nice brushes, but many members here have posted that their new expensive brushes are a floppy mess. Sometimes $$$ and brand name doesn't equal perfection.

I have a Vie Long that does that but I do not mind it. It lathers up denser creams easier, in my experience.

I have been thinking about trying a horse hair but what stops me is all the variables. I mean besides all the differences any other brush has, like diameter and loft you also have mixture. 50% mane 50% tail or 25-75. Now it's been awhile since I had mane or tail in my hand but as I recall mane is stiffer while tail softer. Blah blah blah and yay ya ya I need to feel it before I buy 3 or 4 of the wrong ones to get to what I like.
This is my conundrum with brushes. Especially with horse :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Agree 100 %, a large majority of spendy, mass produced High end brushs, are pure junk.
