Do you mean to say multiple brushes are required? Use one brush then leave it rest for a few days, Use another then rest it ? Surely not.
Whatever happened to the buy one use it and replace it when it dies principle. Why not buy it then don't use it at all it should last forever.

Thanked: 1184Ryan's comment made something click in my head. Once I got over that, I started thinking about those times when I wash my hair after being in a totally dusty/dirty environment all day. One wash doesn't do it because the soap is overwhelmed by the the dirt. No lather just a little slippery. Rinse and add shampoo again and pow there is all the lather. My point is ,if you keep a dirty brush it has to take away from the best possibility of getting the most from your soap. In other words , more dirt less lather.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

I've always used conditioner in my neck dusters and brushes after shampooing them. Natural oils in body hair are stripped with soaps, and conditioners help keeping wood handles conditioned as well as the hair bristles. Just my 2 cents.

Thanked: 2027Here is my seven day set, never cleaned, just shake them out, hang to dry, never an issue.
I lost one once, found in my dopp kit after maybe 6 mos., cacked with old cella in its container, rinsed it out, hung to dry, good as new.
My first badger brush was a Hoffritz, bought it at williams cutlery 30 yrs ago,I used that brush 5 days a week for 20 yrs, never shampood it,never cleaned it,is still in prestine condition.
I have always used Tallow soaps, perhaps thats why I have zero problems.

Do you mean you don't rinse the soap out of your brushes or just that you don't shampoo them?

Thanked: 2027Yes I rinse the soap out, shake the water out on the towel that hangs over the shower door, sort of moosh the brush around on the towel.
Hang the brush to dry overnight or two, never an issue.Would feel like a fool shampooing and conditioning a badger brush.
I wonder If badgers that live in the wild shampoo and condition??CAUTION
