…said the two discontent custom shaving handle brush makers.
Pixelfixed, please understand that Robin was being sarcastic about being a shareholder at Thater.
Harrywally, in the contrary, he provided the OP with his opinion based answers, no need to start a new thread. When the topic of chinese knots surfaced, you both coincidentally came on the defensive.

Thanked: 2284If there was no badger hair left in the world, I wouldn't stop turning on my Lathe. I could care less if no one wanted my brushes. It just so happens it fills my need to be creative. The point I'm trying to make is, newer people need a simple answer so things don't get confusing.

You know, I thought if I stopped posting in this thread, so would you. Common courtesy and all that. But you are still making personal attacks. Quite honestly, I wonder why. As a businessman, you should know that what goes around comes around.
Indeed, and a simple answer is exactly what I provided:
It does not get simpler than that. Since everybody except the few European brush makers (whose offerings mostly exceed the original poster's budget anyway) uses the same Chinese knots anyway, why not go direct? If you follow the link, you will be presented with dozens of offerings that come with free shipping to the US. Wim mentioned Frank Shaving brushes, and I seconded that. Also, very simple. Also available from China direct, or via eBay.
I am still waiting for Pixelfix to explain where exactly the vendor bashing took place, by the way. That is a very strong accusation to make (one which can quickly cost you your account here), and I feel it should not be made unless one is able to back it up. Especially when made against a regular member who has quite a few people to vouch for his integrity (and the lack of a vested commercial interest permanently alluded to by Pixelfixed).

Empathically: yes you can ! Again, through direct Chinese import.
There is simply no way that anyone in the States can get you the same knot cheaper than direct from China. If the knot is cheaper in China, what else is there to decide on ? Ah yes, the handle. If you want a fancier handle than what you can get in China, then one of the gentlemen on this forum can certainly oblige and you'll pay a mostly reasonable premium for that. If you don't care what colour/shape your handle is, you're better off buying in China.

Are you kidding ? I think Robin is hugely entertaining so I hope he's going to carry on.
I don't always agree with his ideas, but I also happen to think it's good to have someone who goes against the flow and challenges things. Besides, Robin is always polite and explains his points of view very well, the same cannot be said of some of the people who go in discussion with him.

The guy just wants to buy a good brush for decent money with good service.
Ofcourse he could try to buy parts from the source and drill and glue himself, and risk the work and delay of parts not coming in in time or dissappear..
He didn't plan to buy 100 brushes to resell.
So with this in mind I'll still state you can't beat whipped dog.
