I keep two boar brushes in my rotation, an Omega 10066 like BobH and a custom with an Omega knot. They are both excellent! The 10066 can still be had for between $7 and $12. I also have badgers and synthetics.

Thanked: 3215Omega & Semoque brushes are great brushes at a super value, boar brushes work well with hard cake soaps.
Do dry them well to prevent cracking as said.

I too am a fan of the Piggy...
Omega 10098 is my current every day, edging out a 1800, another favorite.
Great values, hold up and work well and they have saved me from BAD.

I've had the Omega 10049 for a good while, & love it. It's my tallest brush, plenty of backbone, holds a ton of lather.
My other boars are Semogue 830 and a Kent VS80. You don't have to spend big on a brush for a good experience.Keep your pivot dry!

Thanked: 1I have an Omega Pro48 and it has turned out to be an excellent brush, soft and lathers like crazy. I just ordered the 49 and should have it soon. My 1305 is pretty good too.

I've always though the Semogue brushes beat the Omegas to pieces in the looks department, but you just can't beat an Omega knot, and that is where the rubber meets the road. BTW: some vintage brushes had INCREDIBLE boar knots! The best knot I've ever experienced bar none and by a long shot is the boar knot in my Rubberset 400. That stuff gets wet and just turns like, al dente' or something...smooth as silk, but still destroys hard soap effortlessly...
!! Enjoy the exquisite taste sharpening sharpening taste exquisite smooth. Please taste the taste enough to ride cutlery.
