Bigger sink? With one of Oscar's scuttles you don't need any sink (well, perhaps something small for holding water to rince your face).

I use the hottest tap water I can get, soak the scuttle for about 5-10 minutes and then fill with water that is a little less than boiling temperature. I am finding it is hard to get a thick enoguh lather like this and am wondering if anyone else uses a method like this and how they do it. I tried it last night and the lather was to runny with the hot water.

I have heard of people using these hot pots for scuttle water before so I took the plunge.

I had the same problem until I realized I had too much water in the brush you need to shake it a little bit before starting.

Just keep in mind to never shake it more than twice. Anything more constitutes pleasure and we're not in that business...

Can anyone give me an outside diameter of the main bowl?

You mean the bowl containing the lather? For the s-scuttles it is about 13 cm diameter, 5 cm deep, overall diameter is 15,5 cm. For the l-scuttles, the diameter is about 11 cm, 7 cm deep, overall diameter 14 cm.
The main bodies for the s-scuttles are slipcast in a form, so the dimensions are always the same. The l-scuttles are thrown altogether, so their dimensions may vary a bit.
