Thanked: 1081Yeah Bob some of the 2 band Chinese ones are surprisingly good.
I really like my LS/Maseto Shaving bushes.

Soft with good back bone. They shed now and again but for around 50 bucks for a Chubby sized one you cant go wrong.
Didn't like my Frank Shaving brushes though.

30mm and 35 mm brushes...wow....those be some big guns!
I got rid of this superb Morris & Forndran Polo style handled shaving brush, it was 30mm, one swipe and some swirling and you'd have a lather beard...way to big for me.
I prefer around 24-26mm, smaller, dense knots, let's you dance around and spend some time with the brush, have a nice Thater, 4125/0 I believe, very soft brush, good backbone, can't go wrong with em.

I'm not going to use a two-band for anything other than face-lathering with hard pucks, and frankly, anything over 24mm seems obscene to me. Two-bands for face-lathering that I've liked have been in the 20mm x 48-50mm range, one a Vie-Long (not a cheap brand as far as badgers are concerned, too bad V-L has recently been bought-out though) and the other, a TSS house-brand. If one wants a slightly larger two-band on the cheap, I'm pretty certain that the Maggard aluminum-handled offering would be a great deal for ~$25. Also bear in mind that the bulb-style lofts in these cases are a little longer than the fan-style, which prefers a shorter loft.

Thanked: 3225Personally I do not restrict 2 banders for use with hard pucks and face lathering. I will lather up, face or bowl, with 2 banders/3 banders/boar/synthetics using hard pucks, croaps and creams. I do like a 24mm-26mm knot size though. Oddly enough, I do prefer longer handles like the Simpsons Polo or Rooney Victorian for face lathering which I do mostly. I suppose that is because of older big mitts that are a little stiff now.

Thanked: 25Just want to say I am really loving the 32 mm two band Thater. The tips seem a bit softer than the three band but both feel great.

I went through the big brush phase quite some time ago. I only have really 2 big ones left, a Chubby 3 Manchurian and a Morris and F two bander which I don't even like. The thing has too much backbone for me. The Simpson is actually larger and denser than the Morris but the hair is way more compliant.
I've found the mid 20s is the best size overall. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I had a Thater. One of those 'group buy' fan knots. I like them stiffer.
Best 2-bands I have are a few shavemacs, several old TGN's and some Shengs.
A few Omega boars and a Vie Long horsehair.
Like Bob, I use them all for most everything.
MDC with a Boar! Have not done that!
