Yea Bob's got it. Brushes are one of those things you have to try to find the right one for you.

The best advice is go with a middle of the road and then fine tune from there up or down the next time.

You could go with some of the bargain brands like Omega and Vie Long and you won't be out much if you don't like what you get.

Personally I think you would be happy with one of those two banders as Bob suggested.

I Own one of pretty much all the aforementioned brands and I too agree with Bob
Thater 2 band 4125 bulb would be a reasonable next step up in a brush that’s stiff and still soft.
The shavemac DO1 2band is the height of bulb density and integrity for sure. IMO.

I'd be curious as to the knot dimensions that Mr. earcutter already owns and apparently prefers. That might help to dial-in on a recommendable two-band knot if that's the direction we're headed here.

For me a middle of the road 2 band badger knot would be one that has a loft 2X the size of the knot give or take a couple of silly mms. All of mine are in that range and have worked out quite well to the point I am in no hurry to get rid of any of them. If you don't want to pop for a high end Euro brush maker, some the Chinese makers have been getting good reviews of their 2 band finest knotted brushes. That may be a good place to get your feet wet at a nominal cost. You may also find, if you are lucky, that the Chinese 2 band finest ticks all the boxes for you and is all you need.

Yeah Bob some of the 2 band Chinese ones are surprisingly good.
I really like my LS/Maseto Shaving bushes.

Soft with good back bone. They shed now and again but for around 50 bucks for a Chubby sized one you cant go wrong.
Didn't like my Frank Shaving brushes though.
