The entrance to my shave den/cave !! Note the closet where I'll have plenty of space to put towels and all kinds of other stuff.

These odd looking machines shall wash & dry my clothes & towels. There will be some cabinets over them.

This is where I will build my ceramic tile shower. Note the light that should give interesting highlights to the ceramic & glass that will be there.

This is where the straight razor magic will happen.

This is picture gives an idea of what the sink will look like with the faucet coming out of the wall.

I'll be installing a heated floor to keep my feet nice & comfy while I shave, and I might have one of those anti-gravity chairs so I can lay-down & relax with a hot towel wrapped around my face/head.

So that's where I'm at now. There is still alot of work to do, but I'm enjpying finishing my basement, so I don't mind. I'll keep you guys posted on this project as it evolves. If you have any ideas you think I'd like, please let me know.

Ok I have tried to search this but couldn't find the answer for sure.. When you guys melt the soap into the sugar bowls, do you just lather up with that then use your mugs to continue the lather? I like the look of the soap in the bowls makes it much more clean. I have been just putting my soap pucks into the mug and lathering from there, but I would like to store them in the bowls as well... Any help?

I generally start the brush in the soap container [such as a sugar bowl], and then create the lather in a separate bowl. So for me, I use a separate bowl before the cream ever touches my face. I personally do it this way for a few reasons. 1) My bowl is a scuttle with the ability to keep a quantity of hot water in the inner portion of the bowl to keep the lather warm [without the water contacting the lather]. 2) My bowl has ridges on the bottom to facilitate the mixing and lathering action. 3) It's easier for me to adjust the lather with water [and at times glycerin] when using a dedicated mixing bowl as the "laboratory". 4) The scuttle just looks cool on the counter. Good luck to you!

Haha those are good reasons. So I basically did what you do with my soap bowl and mug. Thanks!

Either way for me, it really depends on the soap, and my shaving plan of the day..

If I am doing a Facelather then I load the brush from the Sugar bowl and proceed to the face, Lynn has an excellent new vid on this...

Now if I am Überlathering then I load the brush and proceed to the Lather Bowl or Scuttle..

I guess the process in pretty much the same when it comes to the brush and the sugarbowls load the brush and then decide where you are going with it... Duuuuuh I will shut up now
