They have been selling out on every batch they make according to the lady I talked to there...... We may not get much of a discount if any......
BTW, I have shaved with it two times now.... The first time I didn't get the water hot enough and the later wasn't warm. Today, I got the water close to boiling and had nice warm later for close to an hour later!
Very pleased with it and the vertical and horizontal lines in the scuttle really seem to help with lather production. The rim/lip really is needed to keep it from spilling out and going everywhere. Very happy with my purchase...... Highly recommend this product and company.

Nice looking scuttle man.
I am currently using the Robert Becker scuttle for 18 and it works excellent.
I like the aesthetics on the G5 better since it is hand thrown versus made from a mold. However, I can't see the G5 performing any better than the Robert Becker
Here is a pic for reference

Thanked: 431That Robert Becker looks real nice.
The G5 has a nice round hole where you put the water in and comes with a nice rubber stopper/plug. So it won't spill and keeps the heat in longer.Last edited by ControlFreak1; 01-16-2010 at 10:02 PM.

Very nice Barry! Nice color, too. Enjoy!
The little details you mentioned sure sound like they'd improve the lather making. I was just checking out the list of improvements on this page.

Exactly.... think about this..... How do you heat that Becker without spilling hot water everywhere? I looked at them all...... This seemed the best to me. Even the Schwarz? one looked like way to much complications for me.
So far I have done this with GREAT results..... I fill the lower resevoir and the bowl with water.... Nuke in microwave for 3 minutes. Cork the hole to keep HOT water inside and pour the water into the sink from the bowl area and we are good to go....... any other way seems to much trouble to me. No fears from cracking due to hot water being poured into it. Working great for me........

I just got a Schwarz, Haven't gotten to shave with it yet, but I gotta say, I LOVE it. It's a bit big for a cramped shave den, but it holds a lot of hot water, keeps your lather warm for a LONG time, and DAMN is Ansgar one HELL of a craftsman... Hell, the mini water basin on the side for dipping, it's brilliant. Works great.
They cost a good deal more, but in my opinion, WAY worth it... Take a look into them. They're great

Thanks for the link..... I have looked it over. I actually read your thread before I bought mine when you were trying to decide.
Yeah, it looks big and way too many moving parts ;-P Something would get dropped on my tile floor.....
That dipping basin is a neat idea but I wouldn't use it..... I get my water boiling hot and then cork it....... Keeps it from spilling when I empty the rest of the water out of the lather bowl. How do you heat yours? Haven't shaved with it yet? what are you waiting for?
The other problem I see it this..... If my water is HOT..... I don't want to dip my brush in that water and damage the bristles.... I just dip in the sink as I am working on buildin lather.... Works for me.
Yours is truly a work of art too and I am sure you will love it.... Just want others in the future to see the differences. I struggled to get a "handle" on the features of each of the 5+ on the market.... I am still happy with my decision and wouldn't have done it different..... Even if they were the same price
