Clean That Brush.
What's your favorite method to clean your brush? Also is it a routine practice for you?
I find as long as I thoroughly clean-rinse my brushes after every use they don't retain any smell from the soaps and there are no built up deposits on them and they function great. Once a year just for GPs I soak them in Borax. Yes after that they feel great, so nice and soft but other than that they work the same. I've always felt the soap you use and the consistancy coupled with water quality can really do in a brush pronto. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I swirl brush around in bowl like im lathering but under stream of water. Then another rinse without bowl. Shake in sink until nothing comes out, then grip brush tight and shake really hard into shower. Its pretty clean and dry.
Still pretty new at this, will eventually get some barbicide and use that once in awhile.

Thanked: 77Erm... not very thoroughly?
I put some cold water in my cup, swish the brush around and then pour water over my wiping cloth. Repeat 3 times, shake out brush and rest on rim of cup to dry (horizontally). (It's only a $2 brush, but has served me well the last 8 months or so).
All the best,
Michael.

I do Borax about once a year myself, Once a week, or so, after I clean rinse it in the sink, I put some hair conditioner on it, and rinse it again. That helps keep it soft...

Every couple months I shampoo it... every 6 months I Barbicide it...
My silvertip seems to 'clog' and need cleaning far more often than my coarser hairs.

I've never cleaned my Tweezerman. I've been on a MWF kick for months and the puck still looks like it will last forever. I do thoroughly rinse the brush after each shave, flick dry and stand it upright to dry. It's lasted for several years now.
I do have a special rinsing method: I grab around the bristles with my index finger and thumb to make a closed circle and prevent the bristles from splaying open. Then I run warm water from the top down the center/base of the knot giving the knot a squeeze under the running water periodically. By doing this, all remaining lather is rinsed away right down to the base of the brush. Suckas clean when done.

I have yet to clean any of my brushes.
I normally just rinse them real good shake and pat dry lightly with a towel.
I think I might try the borax soak since I went on a pre shave oil experiment a while back

I don't have a routine or set pattern of when to clean my brushes. If I start noticing a buildup of residue then I'll wash them. On my boar brush I use 2 drops of Dawn in the palm of my hand, wet the brush and lather it up. Let it stand for about 5 minutes, then work it in the palm of my hand and check thru the bristles with my fingers. Rinse it thoroughly, towel dry it and shake it out. Badger brush is the same routine but I use Pert shampoo that has a small amount of conditioner in it. I've used Dawn on the badger and it cleans well, but the Pert leaves it feeling a bit softer. I figure if they can use Dawn to clean crude oil off birds and mammals, it probably isn't going to hurt my brushes.

Clean That Brush
Hello, everyone:
I thoroughly rinse the brush with warm water after the shave, gently squeeze the water from it, another gentle squeeze with the towel, brush it lightly on the towel to fluff it up and it park it in its acrylic drip stand.

Obie

Hi,
I clean my brushes with Baby Shampoo; a squirt into my lathering bowl with a teaspoon of distilled vinegar, then build lather as you would normallyfor a soap or cream. Rinse brush as usual.
Have fun !
Best regards
