Default Tiger and birdseye with a figured satinwood bowl

Just thought I would post a photo of these. They are custom order for SRD and thought they looked quite nice. The brown brush is a custom tint tiger maple, the other some very nicely figured birdseye maple. The birdseye is a little washed out from the daylight. The bowl is some figured Asian Satinwood. I just thought it looked good so I turned it to match. Knots are 28mm silvertip deeply set for a stiff but soft brush. They will fan out once they are used a few times and bloom.

It is a good thing that everyone should practice. Which is why the monthly SRP give aways tend to have brushes in them.

Very very nice woodworking. I love the shapes of your handle turnings. What finish did you use on them and the bowl?

Very nice job! I really like the longer handles on my brushes. Last one of mine was a little short for my taste. I also think my next one will have a deep set knot as well. Have you thought of bringing the lip back in on your lather bowls, like the SRD? I think that will be in my next lather bowl.
Did you put grooves in the bowl?

I have turned them both ways, just a matter of what I feel like doing when I spin the wood.

I was talking about the direct kind. Your brushes. Give them to me. Now.

    Great work, keep them coming.

Those are very nice. I would like to know if you used a polyurethane or furniture wax or what to finish them?

Yes, Dave, all of us amateurs need to know -- what do you put on the wood to get that fantastic finish? Personally, I have been using polyurethane, but it never looks quite as good as what you have there!

The color on the wood is awesome!
