Thanked: 33thought's on Frank Brushes, are they worth trying?
Not being the biggest fan of badger brushes, I've decided to give it another whirl. So, before emptying my wallet on a Simpson's chubby. I've ordered a couple of Frank's. A finest with 24mm knot and 55 loft and a Silvertip with a 28mm knot and 53mm loft. Anyone have any experiences with these two sizes? How do the Frank's knots compare to the more popular higher end brushes? How do the Frank's knots compare to TGN knots? The cost was so affordable, it just seemed like a better option to buy a frank's than to buy the knots and set them myself in handles.

I really like mine. Just used is as a matter of fact. I have the finest and it's the best I've used as far as badger. Well worth the money spent.

Thanked: 993I have two silvertips, one with a 22mm knot and 60mm loft, and the other with a 28mm knot and 53mm loft. I like floppy brushes, and the big one is excatly that. Soft and loose, like a wet paintbrush. The smaller of the two has quite a bit more backbone, but again, not as much as some may like.
For the money, I really really don't think you can go wrong. I use one of those two every day. They travel with me too....save that nice little blue box it comes in. That box fits a brush and a plastic stand just perfectly!
I think you'll like it.

Hello, newb:
I have three Frank brushes, two tall and one short, in "pure" badger, with good backbone, and worth every bit for the relatively small price I paid for them. I understand the silvertips turn into wet noodles.
Regards,
Obie

Can't say enough great things about franks brushes. My 24mm finest badger is worth it's weight in gold! Just enough backbone, but pliable enough to groove. I'd buy them over and over. I see everyone else has great things to say as well. Awesome product!

Thanked: 33Thanks for the great replies. How do the Frank brushes compare to TGN knots ? And how do the compare to the more expensive knots? I'm not really interested in a Simpson's or Vulfix comparison (as these are hand tied) But to maybe a Rooney, or one of the other big names(are the really hand tied? Or or are they using Chinese knots?). I don't expect Simpson's quality but where do these fit in the spectrum? If at all? With my brush AD, I have a LOVE for Vie-Long horsehair, Turkish #6 (the best value on the Planet) and Semogue boars. I'm just looking to expand my horizons.
