I have Rooney, Simpson, Thater(S) a couple of vintage Dubl Duck brushes, some other custom brush too. One of the Ducks and the Custom are re done with Golden Nib Tips. They're a bit soft for my liking, but get the job done. You have to be sure to set the knot deep enough to get backbone out of them. For me, I've been partial to the Simpson PJ3 for some time, but the the Thater's definitley give it a run for it's money. I like soft tips, but back bone too. I want a brush that can whip up shave cream easily, and mix the dense creams, like Castle Forbes, Nanny's or Queen Charlotte. For me, The Thater's and Simpson fit the bill. Simpson has a bit of lead. The Rooney is a lather hog. It's very, very dense, really dense, like a small forest. They're may be hobbits living in it for all I know....?
