Quick update. I got an Edwin Jagger Synthetic Silvertip Fiber Brush (I believe this is the same as the Muhle) and it is fantastic! It easily outperforms best badger. Also compared to the previous model synthetic they had, it's night and day. So anyone looking to get a new brush at around the best badger price range should really look into geting a silvertip fiber. Highly recommend.

Thanked: 3223That is good to know. I always suspected that you had to go higher up the food chain price wise to get a synthetic that worked OK.

Thanked: 116Just got a FS best badger that I paid $6 with shipping. It was one of their "xmas" deals online. Hands down this brush is far superior to the synthetic brush they manufacture!

I have 5 Synthetic brushes, they are good especially if you make preparation lather
After the first cleaning they need 2 shaving-days and they are ready
They don't expand as a Boar-Badger brush do,the dry much faster,no problem in boiled water and their advantage is face lathering.

As a fan of Synthetics (more than Boars) i saw that brush:
Synthetic fibre shaving brush with a white resin & Nickel handle.
Handle: 50 x 35 x 35 mm
Knot (at base): 21 mm
Loft: 54 mm
Has anyone experience with that brush?
The 21mm are adequate? I have tested some Synthetics but in the base were bigger
The Black in the bristles is just a paint or a different type?

Thanked: 116I've heard nothing but good things about the Muhle brushes. They can be picked up online for around $40 and seem to carry a better reputation than other synthetics. Brush size is all up to you and what you like. I imagine this synthetic is just dyed to resemble black badger?

The New Synthetic Hair Shaving Brushes (Part 1) | Sharpologist
More informations about this knot.
I don't like Muhle's badgers and i don/t know if this knot is something different from others like Omega-FS etc.

I am the author of the article quoted here, and I also had the opportunity to interview Christian Müller, General Manager of Mühle and the person who heads brush development there. From time to time, I receive brush prototypes for testing in the product development process.
I assembled a team last year that tested 19 different new-generation synthetic brushes from nine different manufacturers. Together we've published over 40 major articles and reviews of synths. I am willing to post links to some if it is permitted here.
To answer the question above, Muhle's synthetic brushes are dyed to mimic natural badger hair. As you can see in my photo, they also undergo a "flagging" process that produces forked and curled fibers that add to brush softness and water retention.
One of the most exciting developments this year is the second generation (V2) Silvertip Fiber brushes which are the very best available anywhere, IMO. I will monitor this thread closely and respond to questions as best I can.
This is my set of V2 brushes:

I didn't knew that you were the author
I thought was Mantic59, sorry
Softness of Tips: Very soft and luxurious. By comparison, it is noticeably softer than my EJ Best Badger (23mm).
