Thanked: 3222Treated Myself
Decided to treat myself to a little overindulgence and ordered a Simpsons QE II Jubilee Manchurian brush which I got today. First, Kudos to the postal system in both countries and customs here for allowing the delivery time to account for 1 week including a weekend. I think that is first class service.
The bigger Kudos I'll give to Simpsons for producing a very well crafted brush with great eye appeal. Simpsons also included a complimentary tube of their AS balm. There was a barely detectable amount of badger funk, nothing offensive. Immediately after unwrapping it I dunked it into cold water, gave it a couple of shakes, loaded it up with some MWF and face lathered up a storm. Not a hair was shed in the process.
The tips of the manchurian badger hair feel softer than my SOC 2 band badger did when it was new. The Simpson also has less scritch/scratch than when the SOC was new. The SOC has broken in well and is my favourite brush now having soft tips and decent backbone but without being too harsh. I suspect the Simpsons will be that and more once properly broken in. In other words a very well balanced brush eminently suitable for face lathering.
Would I order another brush from Simpsons? You bet I would but I might have to wait awhile till SWMBO gets over the shock of this one.

I own one Simpson brush - a Commodore X2. I love it but I do want a bigger brush. I may be in the market for anew one soon. But as you already know, they are not cheap. I'm sure your brush will serve you well for years to come. Enjoy!

Thanked: 3222Yea, the only reason I mentioned it did not shed a hair in it's first use is that it is unusual in my experience too with the 4 other brushes I have. Time will tell if it sheds as it goes along and I would not be surprised. Too lazy for pics as there are any number on the web that are better than I could take anyway.

Treated Myself
I have an emperor two band that I've been using exclusively for over a year. It's broken in nicely and is perfect for face lathering.
Mine has lost maybe two to three hairs in 13 months.

Absolutely no experience with the old 2 bands or Thater brushes but they must be very good as I would not trade this brush for anything. It comes closest to giving me what I feel is the right balance of softness vs backbone for me. The only other brush I would not part with is an SOC 2 band badger and it is not far behind the Manchurian in feel, just a little more backbone and not as much bloom. The Manchurian will face or bowl lather equally well while the SOC 2 band badger is only slightly less adept at bowl lathering. Anyway, I am not in much of a hurry to get more badger brushes now.

Congrats, that is a great brush!
I have quite a few brushes, but if I had to pick just one, the Manchurian would be a very hot candidate!Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....
