    Default Treated Myself

Decided to treat myself to a little overindulgence and ordered a Simpsons QE II Jubilee Manchurian brush which I got today. First, Kudos to the postal system in both countries and customs here for allowing the delivery time to account for 1 week including a weekend. I think that is first class service.

The bigger Kudos I'll give to Simpsons for producing a very well crafted brush with great eye appeal. Simpsons also included a complimentary tube of their AS balm. There was a barely detectable amount of badger funk, nothing offensive. Immediately after unwrapping it I dunked it into cold water, gave it a couple of shakes, loaded it up with some MWF and face lathered up a storm. Not a hair was shed in the process.

The tips of the manchurian badger hair feel softer than my SOC 2 band badger did when it was new. The Simpson also has less scritch/scratch than when the SOC was new. The SOC has broken in well and is my favourite brush now having soft tips and decent backbone but without being too harsh. I suspect the Simpsons will be that and more once properly broken in. In other words a very well balanced brush eminently suitable for face lathering.

Would I order another brush from Simpsons? You bet I would but I might have to wait awhile till SWMBO gets over the shock of this one.

I own one Simpson brush - a Commodore X2. I love it but I do want a bigger brush. I may be in the market for anew one soon. But as you already know, they are not cheap. I'm sure your brush will serve you well for years to come. Enjoy!

Yea, the only reason I mentioned it did not shed a hair in it's first use is that it is unusual in my experience too with the 4 other brushes I have. Time will tell if it sheds as it goes along and I would not be surprised. Too lazy for pics as there are any number on the web that are better than I could take anyway.

The only brush that I have that may be a close comparison is a well broke in SOC 2 band badger. The SOC when new did have some scritch/scratch and made me wonder what I had gotten myself into. Once the SOC was broken in that all went away. The Manchurian Jubilee brush has barely any hint of the scritch/scratch the SOC had when new and I notice none when using it to face lather. I'd say the Jubilee has slightly less backbone than the SOC too. The Jubilee has been a joy to use so far but it is very early in the usage stage for me. I have had no problems getting great lathers from MWF, Tabac and DR Harris Arlington pucks and also from Musgo Real cream. For me it has darn near the perfect combination of characteristics that I want in a brush for an all arounder. Yea, it is a performer.
