Thanked: 2284Ya I'd go anywhere from 42mm-50mm. Of course the deeper you go, the more backbone it will have. You could drill some practice holes, at different depths, in some scrap material. See what you like.

Thanked: 28I got ahold of some old maple, and it turns way better than the poplar. Even with my cheep chisels I'm getting nice chips instead of sawdust.
