The lathe is a Unimat 3

    Emco - Unimat 3 - Unimat 4 Lathes

Great fun to use, and very versatile.

Whatever it is....well, you combined some beautiful materials in a unique way. Very organic looking

I was going to also say it almost looks like a jewelers lathe of the watchmakers variety but they are even smaller than that.

The guy that owned it was a model maker, so a fairly small lathe.

Sadly, he died last year. His wife was going to throw the lathe in the skip !

What a lovely brush. Well done for your first attempt.

I was going to comment about the Purdey stock but I see that you answered WW243's concern.

Very nicely done for your first go, you did very well. I want a lathe just like that, yours looks in good shape.

What's the red material between the stag and Walnut? I got a tip from BWP1474 to use hotel room keys to add a strip of thin white to handles. So my last vaca I hung onto about 8.

The spacer is known as fibre liner, used in knife making mostly.

Well done sir and one of my favorite combinations, I have a knife in antler and Ironwood that has the Old flavor of the beautiful brush handle you made..
