Thanked: 2284Texas 2 band in Skateboard veneer
I've been inspired by a few guys on Instagram that take old broken skateboards, glue them together and make things from them. Instead of just pitching them in the trash or burning them, they get re-purposed into functional things like tool handles and such. I tried to get some broken skateboards from a friend, but he didn't come through for me. Plus all his are not dyed. So I did the next best thing, and purchased some off cut material, basically scraps of the veneers they use when gluing up Skateboard decks. Well, I cut them up, arranged them in a random pattern and glued them all up into a turning blank. Here's what came of it all.
Fresh out of the clamps
Trimmed on the table saw to a 1 5/8" square blank.

Kinda reminds me of the brush that you made out of colored pencils a while back.
Very creative!

I see a good marketing strategy here. From my experience about the time they can start growing a beard they are growing out of skateboarding.
Send me that old broken skateboard that you broke along with your family jewels trying to do that double flip on the stair rail.
You will have a lifetime memory that you can possibly pass on to your children........
