And just cause I liked them best so far, I’ve gone ahead and ran another Madrone burl, spalted maple, and bog oak.

And I had to see what the cocobolo cut like.

Super dense, almost as hard as the Irish bog wood, but more sticky sort of?
    Must be an oily hardwood.
I decided to rough turn the blank down on the lathe and skip the cnc roughing stage this time. Will save wear and tear on the rig, I hope.
    Cheers gents.

Look great! The two piece construction certainly creates a lot of cool possibilities as far as color/material combination go!
Your logo certainly turned out well. Looks really clean and professional.
Didn't know cocobolo was that different than the more standard wood choices in hardness. Interesting. Maybe that is why some of the nicer razor makers use it when they do wood scales???

Found a 400 yesterday and seller agreed to let me have it for a great price. Was going to reknot and make it my main brush. Seller then sold it to someone else!!

Yep. That stuff is oily. Causes issues for me when trying to put clean coats on. Nice work over all Mike.

That is going to be stunning when you put a finish on it.

Cocobolo is supposed to be one of the heaviest, strongest and densest woods available.
I have read that the dust can be somewhat toxic.

Years ago, almost all of the wooden billy clubs used by the police were made from it.

Someone sent me a pm about a hunk of desert ironwood, but it appeared to come from my own account strangely.
Thus I cannot reply to the challenge.
    I am interested however..

Maybe try another message. I did delete a fair number to free up space.
    Thanks all.

    Cool! Never heard that before.

Lignum vitae would be cool, but probably kill the cutting bits in his rig.

Cat must be used to all the cool creations. Doesn't seem too impressed.
