Well, if you got your program all bug free you should be able to knock these thingz out with ease. Would be nice. I might have to hook up with ya on one. I dont have this shape of handle yet in my brush collection.
The tuxedo synthetic knot is a hard one to beat. I have a couple of them. And now i hear they are making them in 30mm. My favorite synthetic knot is a 30mm Sterling. Yesterday's SOTD pic. Dont know if your handles can hold one that big but it would be a great brush with a 30mm synthetic knot. It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 4207Thanks for the tip on tuxedo knots Jerry.
And the advantage to saving the program in sections is it is scalable, so I could go up proportionally, or just on the ferrule by mm dia to whatever knot I want to set.
Here’s one of my older walnut hand turned creations with a 30mm knot for perspective without making the handle significantly larger beside an original sporting a shavemac knot. I did take some creative license on the ferrule, but my wood, my decisions, hehe.

Thanked: 4207The hardest test is progressing well.
Went with a slower plunge and pass set up for this one to account for the extra density of material.
Dialed in a different roughing pass this time as well, which took 2 hours to complete.
And now the final turn with .5mm tapered carbide cutter with a .38mm step over.
Seemingly still cutting well, so hopefully haven’t killed the edge of the tool on this one.

I was thinking the same thing. Good to save those.
And i agree that a larger handle would look better with a 30mm knot. Nice that you have that option. That one looks like the handle shrank. It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 4207Even if I only get a couple per carbide cutter, if they turn out like this, I think it’ll be worth it.
Sure was hard on the machine, could hear it in the servos. So the bog oak will be a rarely used resource I think.
The hardness of the bog wood makes for very crisp edges though.
Here just held together with a contrasting burl ferrule..
Think it’s my favorite so far.
Now to work on the base mark..
