    I fully agree!

Many years ago I was listening to Dan Aykroyd's radio program and he said that John Belushi was very proud that because of the movie 'The Blues Brothers' that it helped restore the careers of artist such as Cab Callaway and John Lee Hooker.

It really did and they should be proud. Their music had been all but forgotten by a generation but it still lives on because of that movie revitalizing them!

    Thank You!

I'm sure that you and others will remember a group from the states called 'Stray Cats' Brian Setzer was the founder and lead guitarist.

Currently he's playing with a Big Band behind him. Here's something from the 40's that he's 'rocked up' a bit. With that said, mom loved the entire DVD. (yes I'm a little sentimental at the moment)

I wish I could find a clip of the bass player flaunting his stuff! He's excellent!

I do remember him & the Cats Roy. Never went to see them but I did catch "The Royal Crown Review" when they visited Sydney a couple of times. Had a girlfriend at the time that was into the swing dancing but I had 2 left feet .. LOL...

I guess everyone knows the 'Review' from the "Mask"

What a thread-now we've got Cab Calloway and John Lee Hooker. It was the Blues Brothers that turned me on to some of those old great acts! Big fan of Brian Setzer too, both in his earlier Stray Cats rockabilly days, and his BS Orchestra stuff. Little factoid: I used to date a cousin of his many moons ago, never met Brian, though.

There is a pretty good Jive/swing dancing scene here in NYC. I'm just learning Jive at the moment. Pretty similar to my ears.
There is always a solution, whether it's already present or if you have to make it.

The only thing I "swing" is my golf clubs... somehow now however, I feel rather uncouth.

Oz’s last post brought to mind this modern swing group! They originated about 350 mile from where I live. Unfortunately they never played anywhere near or at least I never heard about it!

This is from The David Letterman Show/Zoot Suit Riot.

Of course as it’s been said; “you know you’ve made it when Weird Al does a parody of your music”.

Here’s Weird Al’s parody, it’s from a tour that I count make to the show, but I got tickets for my wife and two children. The wife said that she’d recommend the show to anyone! She’d seen ZZ Top/Hank Jr./Skynyrd etc! Here's Grapefruit Diet

And what thread about swing would be complete without some big band stuff. My Mom introduced me to this stuff when I was pretty young. It wasn't cool to admit I liked it back then but for real these guy rocked!
