    Default Swinging!

First and Foremost I like all kinds of music! My mother loved what she called ‘Boogie Woogie’ my dad preferred Blue Grass and Early Country. (He did see Hank Williams play in concert in Spokane WA USA back in the 50's)!

My music collection ranges from old big band to Bob Wills/Texas Swing to Rock and Roll/both early and newer.

With this said, I hope that at least a few will enjoy this clip from a movie! I have the 1938 recording of Benny Goodman playing live/the song that this clip is about on the original recording is 12+minutes long!

I can’t name all of the players, but it’s Gene Krupa on drums and Benny Goodman on clarinet!

Man could Gene play the drums! He was years ahead of his time!

    I hope you will enjoy!

I don’t know what the name of the tune that follows or who is playing in fact I don't know why it was posted along with Sing Sing Sing!

I also have a fairly wide and varied taste in music, and I'm also a fan of swing and one of my favourite bands from that period would have to be Louis Jordan tympani 5, and at one stage I had nearly all of his albums but somehow I don't now what I've done with them.

I’m glad that you also enjoy Lewis Jordan! I use Pandora and his music comes up quite frequently!

I tried to watch the video that you posted and it came up as not available. Perhaps it’s because we are across the Big Pond from each other!

Did you like the video of Swing Swing Swing? Just wondering!

I very much enjoyed your video, in fact my Wife said that she was going to buy it from Itunes.

This kind of music is best for Tom and Jerry cartoons

Awesome stuff, Cuda! Such virtuoso playing, such exuberance. I love all that old Big Band era stuff; Artie Shaw is another favorite-thanks.

    I’m Glad you liked it!

While I was raised on Big Band (mom’s favorite) and country/western and bluegrass (dad’s favorite) I’ve enjoyed most kinds of music, even some early rap.

When my mother passed away a year ago today I was a glutton for punishment and decided to do the eulogy.

I also worked with the funeral home on music. I gave them CDs of the old big band WW2 music with a separate disc that had mom’s favorite song to play at the end of the services.

My sister held up really well, until I announced that the song would be played, and then she totally lost it!

Here’s the song by the artist that mom loved! It’s from a 40’s era movie: Perhaps she and Bruno could have watched cartoons together!

Just to show that Swing isn't dead or planning on dying in the near future, here's Silvan Zingg, a Swiss who is an excellent pianist. He holds a Boogie Woogie Festival in Switzerland and people come from all over to attend!

When mom saw this, she was trilled! She exclaimed; "OH GOD! Those kids are good"! While she was never this good, she did used to jitterbug when she was younger.

I do hope all will enjoy this!

I loved it Mate! Great flick!

    Thank You!

I'm sure that you and others will remember a group from the states called 'Stray Cats' Brian Setzer was the founder and lead guitarist.

Currently he's playing with a Big Band behind him. Here's something from the 40's that he's 'rocked up' a bit. With that said, mom loved the entire DVD. (yes I'm a little sentimental at the moment)

I wish I could find a clip of the bass player flaunting his stuff! He's excellent!
